Sun Certified Programmer for Java 2 Platform

Java 2: Programming Language introduces the foundations of Java 2 Standard Edition (J2SE) technology. Students will explore concepts and perform hands-on exercises to apply what they learn. Java is the language of choice for the Internet. Java enhances productivity by allowing the inheritance of methods and properties from the well-organized Java Class Library. Students will build Graphical User Interfaces and handle various events. Students will explore multi-threading and how it can improve the performance of applications. Students will also use many methods of the Graphics class to draw shapes.
As part of ABCO's Java Certified Programmer Track students will learn how to use Declarations and work with access controls, how to control assertions and exception handlings, garbage collectiopn, language fundamentals, Operators and assignments, Overloading, runtime errors, threads and collection framework.

At course completion students will have a strong foundation in the following areas:

  • List the benefits and roles of Java Programming Language

  • Utilize primitive Variables, datatypes, constants, litrels and methods.

  • Implement classes and Properties and understand abstraction and encapsulation.

  • Differentiate between an applicationa and an applet and pass parameters to both

  • Use Operators and expressions to perform calculations

  • Handle key and mouse events

  • Explore appalet architecture, detect and process errors and explore threads.

  • Explore the AWT package and explore the GUI interface.

At course completion students will be prepared to pass the Sun Certified Programmer for Java 2 Platform Exam. Along with passing the exam students also gain the neccesary skills and credentials to apply for positions in the information technology industry.

As part of student program package, students will recieve custom designed Courseware, lab manuals , Study guides to prepare for the exams and the following software:

  • Microsoft Windows 2000 Professional CD-ROM

  • Java™ 2 SDK, Standard Edition, v1.3 (or later) CD-ROM.

Course Duration

 

To ensure your success, we recommend you first take the following ABCO Technology course or have equivalent knowledge:

  • Introduction to Programming (required)

  •  HTML Programming, Level 1 (recommended)

  • Object Oriented Programming (recommended)

 

This course is completed in a duration of 40 hours. Students can choose between a schedule of comming and attending classes between a period of Monday - Friday between the hours of 10:00 AM - 5:00 PM or they can choose to attend classes on evening and weekend schedules.
